About our Urban Mine Hunt – Recover, Retrieve & Reuse

At n2s, we’re at the forefront of tackling e-waste in the UK through sustainable recycling and leading innovation in precious metal recovery from electronic waste.  We are running our own campaign as part of International E-waste day – ‘Join the Urban Mine Hunt.’ Initiated by the WEEE Forum and its members, this awareness-raising event aims to highlight the importance of the formal and responsible management of e-waste.

Why are we on an “urban mine hunt”?!! The term “urban mine” captures the innovative idea of extracting valuable resources from urban and industrial waste streams. It transforms our built environment into a treasure trove, viewing recycling and reusing as the new frontier of resource extraction. Efforts in urban mining often include the development of advanced recycling technologies to extract valuable materials from electronic waste, such as precious metals from old computers and smartphones. The goal is to reduce the environmental impact of mining, lessen dependence on raw material production and pave the way for a sustainable circular economy.

Partner with n2s to reduce e-waste in your workplace and even encourage employees to bring in old devices in drawers at home and help us address this growing problem.
