Recycling computers, laptops and other IT equipment – we’re aiming for 99%

N2S have long been committed to the ethical recycling of technology even before the arrival of the WEEE Directive. The green agenda is becoming increasingly important to not only our clients but the world at large. We are committed to eliminate the concept of technology waste and that means recycling everything from telecommunications equipment, computer systems, laptops and IT accessories.
Here at N2S we are huge fans of MBDC’s Cradle to Cradle©model model that moves thinking on re-cycling beyond the approach of simple eco efficiency into a more comprehensive and we believe a more sustainable and impactful approach that integrates eco efficiency within a larger corporate eco-effectiveness goal.

Managed properly the vast quantities of technological waste can be recycled without harm to the environment. At N2S we apply this thinking to all aspects of our approach to the recycling and re-use of computers, laptops, cables, in fact almost all IT equipment.
As a result of our pioneering work to drive towards less than 1% of everything we handle going into landfill we are often asked to contribute to research and speak at conferences. For examples please see our news page and case studies.
Examples of what we do:
- N2S is the exclusive partner to manage the decommissioning and de-engineering of a major European technology manufacturer. Three years ago almost 40% of all IT waste equipment was destined for landfill. Following a successful three years, an independent audit revealed that of over 600 tons of redundant equipment less than 0.07% ended its life in landfill.
- In conjunction with partners in both the public and private sector prison services, N2S have pioneered an innovative Green Offender Programme©to provide green collar employment, training and qualifications for the UK’s prison population. At the same time ensuring higher proportions of industrial waste is recycled.
- As Board members and active contributors to the British Waste Metals and Recycling Association we are at the forefront of self regulation and control.
