FAQ

What is WEEE?

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment directive became law in February 2007 making it illegal to scrap or dump IT equipment/electronic waste such as cables, disks, circuit boards, routers, racks, and telephones etc.

  • The IT Equipment must be removed from its location and transported for correct disposal, by someone who is licensed to carry it and dispose of it .
  • The disposal must be documented with a compilation of full WEEE reports detailing a clear audit trail which removes the burden of responsibility from the customer or reseller.

What is “Electrical and Electronic Waste”?

Basically anything electrical or electronic. All Disks, Disk Arrays, cables including SCSI, ESCON and Fiber cables, SAN switches, Telephones, Phone systems, Routers, PC’s, Laptops, Monitors, and Servers etc.

At what point in the sales/customer decision making cycle should the customer engage with N2S?

The engagement should occur when an opportunity has been confirmed and before full pricing or BID work has been instigated or completed/signed off. It should also be before any new kit has been purchased as the resale value of the legacy kit could be a positive factor in the pricing/cost.

When will an opportunity occur that may require a customer to contact N2S for support?

When there are established plans to move DC’s , upgrade or replace an existing WAN, LAN or telephone networks, or when a desktop or network refresh may occur. At this stage N2S can provide support in terms of due diligence , site surveys and compliment the customer’s services in the planning of equipment removal globally.
